Polish road-building seen boosting growth, jobs

WARSAW, Nov 25 (Reuters) - Ambitious plans to modernise Poland's ramshackle road network and other communist-era infrastructure are helping to boost economic growth, create sorely needed jobs and cushion battered construction firms.

The infrastructure projects, co-funded by the European Union, are a key reason why Poland is the only member of the 27-nation EU to avoid recession in the global financial crisis, economists say. They may also boost support for the government.
