Dad loses bid to speak Polish to daughters

A German court has ruled a Polish father has no inherent right to speak his native language during supervised visits with his daughters.

Wojciech Pomorski, 39, filed a lawsuit arguing the Youth Affairs Office in Hamburg did not respect his cultural identity. The court dismissed the case this week, Polish Radio reported.

Pomorski, who is divorced from his German wife, can see his two daughters only under supervision. The Youth Affairs Office said he could only speak German to the girls because Polish-speaking employees of the office are not always available.
