Poland's PGNiG warns PKN, Police of gas cuts

Poland's gas monopoly PGNiG PGNI.WA warned its two major clients, refiner PKN Orlen PKNA.WA and chemical maker Police PICE.WA, about possible gas cuts, the companies said on Friday.

"We are talking about a potential level of deliveries, if there is a need to reduce them," PKN spokesman Dawid Piekarz said, without giving a reason for the warning.

Poland started the year with lower-than-usual gas storage levels due to a disruption in deliveries from Russia last year, and high winter gas consumption has raised concerns the stores will not last until the end of the season.

Poland has so far failed to reach a deal with Russia to cover an annual deficit of 2.5 billion cubic metres in gas deliveries due to a last-minute disagreement over details.
