Poland's unemployment rate will likely stand at above 12 percent in January, up from a probable level of 11.9 percent in December, and may hit 12.8 percent at the end of 2010, the Labour Ministry said on Friday."We see a big move in labour offices... The unemployment rate will likely stand at above 12 percent (in January) but it will be a temporary jump," Deputy Labour Minister Czeslawa Ostrowska told Reuters.
The unemployment rate, which traditionally rises in winter when many seasonal jobs disappear, usually falls at the start of spring.
"Winter months are usually a time of stagnation on the labour market, but since we don't have any information about big group layoffs, the jump is just a seasonal one," said Ostrowska.
